Many times we hear about the things that today’s average American teen is going through and our reaction is, “That’s too bad” or “I didn’t have to deal with that as a kid”. However there is nothing new under the sun just a different version of the same old pain and struggles. However we see suicide and cutting as some of the top struggles for students as well as sexual orientation and sexual activities, and within the mix of all the above is substance abuse. Through all these things I see very little effort and venture into the realm of a spiritual fix. For example, when a student is struggling with addiction or some other grasp of Satan I don’t see students crying out to the Almighty for help. We go for the quick fix. We as adults are no better. When was the last time we even prayed a headache away? However I know many people do not like to call on God because the do not think he is a ‘fix-all’. However, I disagree. God wants nothing more than for us to turn to him in every circumstance. So that is my cry out to our next generation that they be a generation that chooses God. That after they have chased every other quick fix here on earth that eventually (sooner than later I hope) turn to God. That they would be such an example of this that they would teach us adults a thing or two about following God.
